Black History Month
In October 2020 we introduced Interculture's very first Black History Month campaign, providing events, information, promotion, signposting and support for Black lives.

We worked hard to curate a very special line up of events and more, bringing multiple focuses to Black lives. To support the Black community in providing a platform for sharing, building connections and raising awareness.
Exciting new partnerships, collaborations and friendships came out of the campaign. Participants reported increased feelings of belonging and hope, with individuals from multiple backgrounds coming together to listen and support positive change.
We commenced the month with our highly demanded How to be an Ally event on the 15th October. A chance to hear from All Black Lives Bristol about their experiences of allyship and racism within activism and beyond. Discuss how you can be an ally, learn about unconscious bias, micro-aggressions and how to confidently stand up to racism.

On the 21st October we were proud to host Black Women Talking to discuss being Black and female in the workplace and across industries. On the panel we had the unstoppable Charmaine Lawrence, Rap Artist turned Entrepreneur, Founder and CEO of N9NE Cosmetics and Mogul Minded. Plus NHS Mental Health Specialist Judie Campbell to lead the conversation on the psychological effects of racism.

On the 27th October we presented Black Men Talking. A chance to hear the shared and unique experiences of growing up Black in the UK. Panelists included Bristol's Caribbean cuisine legend, Glen Crooks who discussed his experiences of moving to the UK from Jamaica and growing up in the Skinhead generation. Plus men's mental health campaigner and Bristol therapist Cory Stewart and Tyrek Morris, All Black Lives Manchester organiser.

Social Media Influence
We dedicated our October socials to supporting Black lives by offering information and advice as well as promoting some of Bristol's best Black business, artists and more!
We presented 'Supporting Bristol's Black Businesses' in collaboration with @ByBlackBristol. Check them out if you're looking for a whole range of Black business in and around Bristol!
There's also a chance to meet and hear the achievements of some of our inspiring Black History Month event panelists!

It's all about 'Listening and Educating' as we presented real life perspectives of Black Women and Men in the UK. Offering advice on topics such as 'what to not say and why'.
